A concise, accurate guide to using Menu Mindmap
Quick Start
- Download Menu Mindmap from the Mac App Store.
- Launch the app; its icon appears in your menu bar (top of screen).
- Click the menu bar icon to open your mind maps.
- If you don't see it, hold Command (⌘) and drag the icon to the right; close other menu bar apps if the bar is crowded.
- Click the "+" tab to add a new canvas.
Nodes
- Add parent node: Right-click (or ctrl-click) empty canvas → "Add Parent Node".
- Add child node: Hover a node, click the small "+" on the edge (top/bottom/left/right). Connection is automatic.
- Select node: Single-click.
- Edit title: Double-click the node or right-click → "Edit Title".
- Move node: Click and drag the node.
- Delete node: Right-click → "Delete Node".
Notes, Icons, Color, Size
- Notes on every node: Right-click → "Add Note". Click the note icon to open/close. Right-click → "Delete Note" to remove.
- Icons: Right-click → "Change Icon" (200 ready SF Symbols). Choose "None" to clear.
- Node color: Right-click → "Change Color".
- Node size: Right-click → "Node Size" → Taller/Shorter.
Connections
- Create: Use a node’s edge "+" to add a child; the connection is created automatically.
- Select: Click a connection line.
- Bend/route: When selected, drag the small handle to curve the line around other nodes.
- Reset: Right-click the connection → "Reset Curve".
Canvas & Navigation
- Change canvas color: Right-click empty canvas → "Change Canvas Color".
- Pan: Click and drag on empty canvas.
- Zoom: Pinch on trackpad, or hold Command (⌘) or Control and scroll the mouse wheel.
- Rename canvas: Double-click the canvas name in the top-left corner, or open the list of maps and right-click the canvas name → Edit name.
Tabs & Saving
- Add canvas: Click the "+" tab.
- Switch canvas: Click a tab to switch.
- Saving: All canvases and changes are saved automatically on your Mac.
Privacy & Data
- Fully local: mind maps, notes, and settings stay on your Mac.
- Works offline: no accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics.
